**Evening:** Enjoy a quiet evening to recover from your flight. Explore the immediate surroundings of your accommodation if you're not too tired, or simply relax and prepare for your motorhome adventure beginning tomorrow.

# Lake Tekapo Day Plan
**Day 1 - Arrival and Scenic Exploration**
**Morning:** Breakfast and spend a few hours exploring Christchurch city.
Pick up your motorhome in Christchurch Airport at 11:00 am, begin your drive south toward Lake Tekapo. The journey takes approximately three and a half hours. Stop for lunch en route and enjoy the changing landscapes as you approach the Canterbury region. Arrive at Lake Tekapo in early afternoon and settle into your accommodation.
**Afternoon:** Arrive at the shimmering turquoise shores of Lake Tekapo, framed by the snow-dusted Mackenzie Basin. Visit the iconic Church of the Good Shepherd, a charming historic stone church with incredible photo opportunities. Take a leisurely walk around the stunning turquoise waters of Lake Tekapo. **Morning:** Short 1 hour drive to Twizel to start the day get any supplies needed and head to the Hooker Valley Track trailhead, located about 45 minutes from Twizel. This stunning 10-kilometer return walk takes you through native beech forest and alpine meadows, offering breathtaking views of Mount Cook and surrounding peaks. The trail is well-maintained and suitable for most fitness levels, with spectacular scenery rewarding your effort at every turn.

Or Option 2: cruise to Mao Waho Island Duration: 3 hours and 15 minutes
Time: 2 pm
